Daily Life in Buenos Aires
The culture of Buenos Aires is still true
to its European roots, especially in regards to its food, music, and warm
hospitality. Famous for its nightlife, porteños generally begin their evenings
with a long and lively dinner around 10PM, often revolving around a main dish of
the world’s finest beef and plenty of rich wine (with pastas and pizza also
figuring prominently among the Italian-influenced Argentine cuisine). Late
nights in Buenos Aires often turn into early mornings; dinner is regularly
followed by coffee and dessert, a drink at a bar, a dance club, and a sunrise
breakfast before heading home. Plenty of concerts, tango shows, and street
performers provide the city’s backdrop from the afternoons until the wee hours
of the morning. The public transportation system is the engine behind it all;
taxis, the subte (the subway system), and buses transport the majority of
porteños all day long.
Student Activities
Spanish
student activities are normally offered 2-3 days a week in Buenos Aires in order
to supplement the student experience without interfering with Spanish school
coursework. The coordination of these activities are included in each student’s
Spanish course! Most activities offered are free or at a low cost for students,
such as entrance fees or meal costs. Our language institute staff is always on
hand to answer questions and explain local cultural activities to our Spanish
students. Here are some examples of our Spanish student activities around
Argentina:
Workshops
Our institute has partnered
with local venues in
Buenos Aires to offer special student activities
in
Buenos Aires called workshops
that supplement the language immersion courses and, most importantly, offer
contact with local Argentines. Flex your linguistic and physical muscles while
learning new fun skills outside of formal classes! Students can sign up for
workshops packages and arrange for which particular workshops they would like to
participate in after they arrive at our Spanish school in
Buenos Aires. Each workshop is
provided at a supplemental cost to students; we offer several workshops that
students can reserve and arrange before their arrival, and an additional
assortment of more workshops which can be arranged and paid for after the
student’s arrival in
Buenos Aires.
Excursions
from Buenos Aires
Participate in extraordinary adventures and put your new linguistic skills to
use in some of the most magnificent cities of Argentina! In cooperation with a
local travel agency we offer a large variety of excursions from Buenos Aires for
students on all of our Spanish programs. Excursions can be organized as
individual travel packages according to your preferences or as group trips. Our
trip coordinator goes on each of the group trips to offer an insider's
perspective and a knowledgeable answer to any question students have along the
way. |
