Tango in Temple, Woodstock and Stroudsburg
January 25, 2010 – 2:59 pmIn Temple, Texas
A special treat for all you Tango dancers! This will be a two week workshop (both on Saturday) with Stephen and Mardi Shortnacy from Georgetown. Argentine tango is very different from ballroom tango both in terms of the music that is used for dancing and the nature of the partner connection and interaction. With the focus on the connection of the partnership and musicality, you can be out on the dance floor enjoying the dance of tango with only knowing a few simple steps. $45/pp covers both classes. For more information call In The Mood Ballroom, (254) 773-7088. Located at 13 S. Main St. Temple TX
In Woodstock, New York
The Saturday program takes place in Kingston at the Center for Creative Education, 20 Thomas St. The 2:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon workshop takes place at Mountain View Studio in Woodstock.
Prices range from $15 to $85, depending on the number of workshops. The Saturday anniversary milonga is $15 per person. No partner is necessary for workshops or milonga.
For more information, call Woodstock Tango founder Ilene Marder at 845-246-1122 or visit www.WoodstockTango.com.
This is Kleinman’s first visit to the Hudson Valley. She is well-known in Argentina and in Europe as a dancer/teacher of traditional Argentine tango.
The 3 p.m. Saturday workshop focuses on fundamentals of tango, geared toward beginners and those who want to refine their dance. The 4:30 p.m. Saturday workshop is for experienced tango dancers.
The evening dance party features an 8 p.m. class appropriate for beginners taught by Marder. Dancing begins at 9 p.m., with participants from across the region and New York City expected to attend to celebrate the anniversary.
The 2:30 p.m. Sunday workshop in Woodstock is designed for followers — usually women — who want to refine and improve their technique, learn and practice embellishments, and discover the secrets of great following under any circumstances. Partners are not required. This is an all-levels workshops; participants should have some experience with Argentine tango. Bring smooth-soled shoes.
